ECMC presents Believing & Realizing the College Dream at School District of Palm Beach County | North County Support Center | 火曜日, 11. 2月 2020

ECMC is pleased to provide a workshop review of our nationally recognized curricula “Believing the College Dream” and “Realizing the College Dream” for the School District of Palm Beach County. The curricula were created to provide tools to help educators increase the success rates of low income, first generation students.

Clearly, access to higher education alone is not enough to provide educational opportunity to all when low-income, first-generation college-going students are the least likely to graduate Low-income students are less than half as likely to earn a bachelor’s degree as higher-income students. When you're a teacher, few things are more frustrating than watching bright students with endless potential rule out college because they think it's too expensive or a waste of time. Our curricula can help you reach those students and show them that college is an opportunity within their grasp.

“Believing the College Dream” helps 4th through 8th grade students and their families by:

Showing them that going to college is within their grasp
Helping them believe in themselves and their ability to succeed in school
Teaching them how to identify people they can trust to support their journey in education
Giving families and communities tools, information and the college-bound attitude they need to support their children

“Realizing the College Dream” helps educators working with high school students to increase college transition rates with:

Hands-on activities and interactive workshops about planning and paying for college
Experiences that challenge students to see themselves in college
Eye-opening information about the economic value of college

Highlights:

Facilitation by professional trainers
Innovative applications for curricula implementation
Experiential, game-based techniques for teaching fundamentals
Complimentary networking lunch
